locpad pay Installation
Thanks for choosing LocPad for your payment kiosk solution. This guide will explain how to install LocPad Pay with the various mounting options available. If you have any issues with the installation at all, please feel free to contact us and we’ll assist in any way we can.
There are multiple ‘pole’ mount options and a wall mount option. There are also kits available for the SumUp and WisePad card readers. The installation is slightly different for pole and wall mount, but the basics are the same.
Fig 1) Common contents include the LocPad kit, consisting of: LocPad case, tablet ‘fit kit’, plastic faceplate, metal front plate and keys. There is a small pack with a round metal disk and 4 x 16mm screws. The disk is not required. The 15mm screws are for the wall mount only. All bundles also include two 3 metre power cables (one straight head, one ‘L’ shaped head), and a dual USB power supply.
Fig 2) Wall mount contents include a card reader mount for either SumUp or WisePad. There are also four Rawl plugs and screws to fix the kiosk to the wall.
Fig 3) Pole mount bundles contain the components for either a desktop pole or a floor standing pole. The desktop solution has a tilt-head pole and a round, heavy desktop base. The floor standing solution has a 1.1m, pole with a fixed angle head, and a heavy floor base. Both pole mounts use the 14mm tapered head screws to attach the base to the bottom of the pole. They also use the 4 x 20mm pan head screws to attach the LocPad kiosk and card reader to the head of the pole.
Fig.4) Press the fit kit into place onto the round pegs on the LocPad case. Both bottom and top fit kit parts are identical.
Fig 5) Use a spirit level to ensure the mount is perfectly horizontal. Mark up the four outer holes onto the wall so you know where to drill. For a neat installation, the two USB power cables should be channelled through the wall via the central hole. If you can’t drill all the way through the wall, you can use the alternative cable channel which comes out of the bottom of the mount. Drill the wall and install the Rawl plugs using your marks as a guide. If you’re mounting onto dry board or other wall types, please use the appropriate fixings. Thread the straight USB-C cable through the central hole and along the card reader mount central channel. This cable is used to power the card reader. Line the card reader holder up with the four Rawl plugs in your wall and use the supplied bronze screws to attach to the wall. Don’t over tighten the screws.
Fig 6) The wall mounted card reader mount should now look like this with the two USB-C cables in place.
Fig 7) To install the LocPad case, Feed the right-angled USB-C cable through the central hole of the case and place the LocPad into the central round section. Use the supplied 15mm screws to attach the card LocPad to the reader mount.
If you’re using the alternative cable channel, the process is the same, but the cables use the bottom cable channel. Skip the next page and go straight to Card reader installation.
There are multiple ‘pole’ mount options available. But the basic installation is the same. Fig.8) Press the fit kit into place onto the round pegs on the LocPad rear case. Both bottom and top fit kit parts are identical.
Please note we think its probably best to have the lock at the bottom of the portrait orientation. This requires a little bit of thought, as to which way up it should be when you attach to the pole.
Fig.9) Install the pole onto the base (desk or floor) using the four tapered M5 screws supplied. The slot on the base can be used to thread the USB cables out of the back of the base.
We would suggest feeding both the cales through the base slot first, and then feeding them through the pole.
Fig.10) Thread the two power cables through the pole in order. First, take the cable with the ‘L’ shaped USB-C head, and thread the other end (USB-A) down the pole from the top. Then take the second cable, and thread the USB-C head up from the bottom. This is the same process for all pole types. This stage can be a bit tricky as the cable channel is quite tight. For the flexible mount, straighten the top of the mount so the channel goes straight down. If you find this too fiddly you could tie a piece of string/cotton thread around the cable and use this to pull the cable through.
The next stage is to install the card reader into the cardle, taking care to route the power cable correctly. Fig.11) Install the u-bend USB-C adapter into the card reader, then the end of the straight USB-C cable into the u-bend adapter. Push the cable in tight and make sure adapter and cable are secure.
Just a note: The right angled cable will be used to charge the tablet. The straight one is charging the payment module.
Fig.12) Now’s the time to pull excess cable though the wall or pole mount and ensure the card reader USB cable is sat in the central channel and not off to one side. If the cable isn’t sat in the channel properly, the LocPad case won’t sit flush to the card reader mount.
Fig.13) For the SumUp Solo, place the Solo into the bottom of the mount first as per the diagram. Run the power cable along the central channel, then ‘click’ the top of the reader into place. For the WisePad, the process is the similar. Place the WisePad into the right side of the cradle first as per the diagram. Run the power cable along the central channel, then ‘click’ the left side of the reader into place.
If you have a wall mount, the LocPad case is already attached to the wall. Fig.14) If you have a pole mount, you need to position the LocPad case onto the card reader cradle, and the card reader cradle onto the pole. Here, make sure you click the 4 "pegs" of the cradle into the locpad rear enclosure. press down evenly on the centre of the enclosure to ensure they fit snug.
Align the four inner holes with the pole and screw the assembly in place using the 4 x 20mm pan head screws. Make sure you’re using the longer 20mm screws and not the 15mm screws.
Fig.15) At this stage, the LocPad case card reader, and cabling should look like this. Connect the charging cable to the tablet and slot your tablet into the ‘fit kit’. The tablet should fit snugly in place. The tablet isn’t fully secure yet, so be careful not to let it fall out!
At this point, you might want to turn on the tablet and get to your software and load up your app or kiosk software so that the tablet is turned on and you don't need to access this again.
Fig.16) If there’s a brown paper protective covering on the plastic faceplate, peel it off. Lay the faceplate on top of the tablet, using the slots as guides. There are two hooks on the underside of the metal plate which should line up the appropriate receptacles on the rear part of the enclosure. Slot these in and pivot the rest of the metal plate down onto the enclosure. Press the barrel lock button to lock and secure the front metal plate in place. To release the tablet, insert the key into the barrel lock and rotate until the button ‘pops’ out to release the plate lock. If you have any questions at all, please just contact us for support.
