Tablet kiosks and enclosures have evolved from simple protective housings into critical touchpoints in customer experience. Whether they're used for self-check-in, ordering, POS or visitor management, these enclosures often represent a first impression of a brand's digital presence.
Given this importance, we are always working to ensure our product offerings balance durability, security and style.
Common Issues That Can Arise
Here is an example of a different brand of kiosk - showing some of the issues that can occur when design/installation is unrefined.

- One common issue is visible and poorly routed cabling which we can see in the image. This can detract from clean installation and make maintenance more difficult. Over time cable strain or accidental disconnection may occur if wires aren't properly supported and shielded.
- Another issue we can see with this image is the card reader positioning. When the card reader sits too far away from the tablet itself, it can interrupt the natural flow of user interaction and look aesthetically out of place. This can affect the intended purpose of contactless POS systems, being smooth and user-friendly in real world environments.

Our Solutions
- The armourdog locpad Pay range, is a great example of internal cabling for PoS systems. The integrated cable management keeps your counter top tidy while ensuring the card reader is continuously powered. The card reader arm and bracket allows for the card payment reader to be situated neatly next to the tablet itself. The card reader can be positioned on either the left or the right side of the locpad and can face towards or away from the locpad screen - making it the ideal solution for PoS and self-service.
In retail settings - concealed cables create a polished, distraction free aesthetic that supports brand perception. Fewer exposed cables also mean less risk of accidental disconnection during high-traffic interactions.

- Similarly the Bosstab Gemini Self-Service tablet stand provides a lockable, easy-to-use stand that turns your tablet into a contactless self-service checkout, whilst keeping cables out of sight. The Gemini features 45-degree tilt movement and also offers an adhesive Touch version - which can accommodate any tablet size or model.
In hospitality or self-service environments, convenient proximity of card readers and screen adjustability enhances user comfort and accessibility - encourage faster check-ins and reducing wait times.
